The WLD ILS Wish List Wiki

I've started this Wiki as a place where we can compile notes about the requirements we have for a new Integrated Library System (ILS).  We are planning to migrate away from our current ILS, Horizon, in 2010.  We are doing this because SirsiDynix has canceled the Horizon product and will not be releasing anymore major upgrades (see this article for more information).  Because choosing a new ILS takes so much time, we are beginning the selection process this year.

SirsiDynix is planning to release a new product called Symphony which is based on the old Sirsi Unicorn product.  This may, or may not, be the best solution for us.  However, it's important to make sure we know what our ILS requirements are before seriously considering any new system, even one provided by our current vendor.

Below I've included links for various ILS departments/modules.  I've also listed some possible features for each department under the First Thoughts sections on each page.  However, most of these I've copied from other library's RFPs so they may not be relevant for us.  To make changes to the lists, click the Edit button, make your changes and then save the changes.  If you think the feature is completely useless, I'd suggest highlighting the comment and then using then clicking the strike through button (located next to B U and I buttons).  You could also just delete the feature suggestion but if we use the strike through feature it'll be easier to see what has already be suggested.  If you believe a feature should be required or at the very least would be useful, move it from the First Thoughts section to one of the other sections listed in the document.  Make sure to Save your changes before exiting :) If you feel any of your changes require explanation, click the Comment button on the top navigation bar (after saving your changes), type in your thoughts/questions/explanation and click Add Comment.

Feel free to create new pages for other departments or module that we might want to add features to.  Click on the Administration link to see an example of how I've set everything up.

Should there be seperate sections for Cataloging, Acquisitions and Serials or is one "Tech Services" section sufficient?
